Michael Jordans billet doux Sold For Over $25,000 At Auction

Everybody wants anything that was roughly involved in Michael Jordan. Everything together with his seat, handwriting, or signature is incredibly valuable, even his love letters.

That's why, consistent with Darren Rovell, someone reached bent Iconic Auctions to shop for a 20-page handwritten billet-doux written by Jordan in 1989 for $25,703.

The letter was sent from the Guest Quarters Suite Hotel in Troy, Michigan, and postmarked on July 11, 1989. However, rather than being addressed to his sweetheart and wife  Juanita Vanoy, it had been sent to Amy Hunter, a former actress, and model.

Jordan and Hunter had an affair during the first years of his career, and Jordan apologized for not having the ability to hold on with it due to how he'd be perceived:

Amy, sometimes I'm the foremost unpleasant person on this earth because for one whole year all I assumed about was Michael () I admit I made an error but found it difficult to vary it. Let's say I do change the error. you'd not believe the issues we might encounter. it's unthinkable. We wouldn't have a pleasing relationship or a personal one. Our business up for opinions by the entire world. this is often a pressure I can't accept, Jordan wrote.

Jordan and Vanoy already had a son during that point, so Jordan felt like that affair could ruin his image because the ultimate athlete and model had the press got their hands into it:

Amy, if I used to be Michael Jordan, the standard man with a 9 to five job, then it wouldn't be hard to admit my mistake. But instead, I'm Michael Jordan who is placed on the pedestal and viewed to be the right model. tons of individuals, not just kids, but whole families. are you able to imagine the responsibilities I even have to affect . to not mention a baby by a woman who I even have loved for 3 1/2 years, the GOAT added.

Vanoy and Jordan eventually got a divorce in 2002 so perhaps hed have another shot at pursuing happiness with Hunter, but given how private he keeps his affairs, it looks like we'll never know.

On a related note, an equivalent billet-doux was sold a few times within the past, with someone paying $2,560 for it before its value escalated x10 after The Last Dance.
