Real Madrid vs. Valencia

La Liga play resumes on Thursday with Real Madrid taking on Valencia in the top matchup for Matchday 29. It's a match that can be a tricky one for Los Blancos but one that they should win at home, especially considering what Valencia is missing in defense. A win for Real will pull them within two points of Barcelona at the top of the league, while anything short of a victory instantly makes Barca the favorites the rest of the way.

Here's how you can watch the match and what to know:

Storylines
Real: This team showed some quality and confidence in the win over Eibar and had the game over by halftime, but in the second half they lacked conviction and let the relegation contenders back in it. Against a Valencia team with much better-attacking options, they will need to put together more than just 45 minutes of solid play to win.

Valencia: Valencia's roster has the players to beat Real, and they outplayed Los Blancos earlier in the season in the 1-1 draw where they conceded in added time. But there is a serious issue here that makes it so unlikely that they can get a result. With starting center back Ezequiel Garay already out with a knee injury for the rest of the season, fellow starter Gabriel Paulista remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. The pressure is going to be on a young backline to compete with Real's talented attack.

Prediction
Real has a field day with the inexperienced backline of Valencia to remain close to Barca atop the table. Pick: Real Madrid 3, Valencia 1
